FoodLab Chicago 4.0 is an insightful, educational program designed for chefs, restaurateurs, and food industry makers who are looking to take their businesses to the next level.  FoodLab Chicago 4.0 will work with restaurateurs, engaging in weekly to bi-weekly 90 minute workshop sessions curated to enhance restaurant profitability, gain a better understanding of food costs, grow the workforce, and cultivate a dining culture which strengthens Southside communities as food service destination nodes.

For the last 3 years FoodLab Chicago has assisted 40+ Black-owned South Side Chicago restaurants. Since the launch of FoodLab Chicago, participating food industry entrepreneurs have acquired over $4 million in grants and loans. A few notable FoodLab Chicago alumni include Brown Sugar Bakery, Surfs Up South Shore, The Foodie’s Spot, Majani, Lem’s BBQ, Imani’s Bean Pies and Finer Foods, and many more!

The ideal FoodLab Chicago participant is a retail foodservice entrepreneur (restaurateur, chef, caterer, general manager, etc.) with a business that has been operating for at least 18 months.  Businesses in the Chatham, South Shore, Avalon Park, Greater Grand Crossing, Auburn Gresham, Englewood, and Bronzeville neighborhoods are especially welcome to register.
